Taken steps to make sure you do don’t obtain unwanted quest is not that hard. Unwanted guest can bring you a lot of problems, unwanted guest like rats have a tendency to start fires by chewing on electrical wires. Unwanted guest also leave there dropping for you to find at an undetermined time and can carry bacteria and disease. The first thing you can do is the old fashion mice trap, but if you don’t visit your storage unit enough don’t bother, one mice every six months will not make a difference. When storing any furniture or appliances make sure they are completely clean and dried before being stored away, things like crumbs or soda pop stains can seem like not much but it does not take much to attract one and after one comes then more will follow. Check your storage unit for small holes in the top of the roof, if a bird gets inside chances are it won’t find his way out. A bird trapped inside your storage unit flying around and pooping all over the place is probably something that might cause quit a mess. By taken simply common sense steps you should be able to keep the pest out, but you should make sure as much efforts as your putting in that the storage company management is doing their job to. It is just as important to keep up the outside of the storage unit as it is to take care of the insides.

Storing your vintage record collection
Wednesday, December 23rd, 2009Especially nowadays with technology we most likely will never see the day when we will hear or see originally records unless there used old vintage records. So a lot of people are taking up collecting vintage records on as a hobby. But if they don’t take care of the records properly especially during storage there’s not much a record is worth when it can’t play. When finding a storage spot for your record collection make sure they are far from any direct sun light and that the records will be stored in a place that is clement controlled and humidity controlled. Never stack the records on the floor on top of each other, place all records vertically and take each record out of the sleeve and place the record next to the sleeve this will prevent damage to the grooves and the sleeve by being separated. Clean each record from all finger prints and grim but do this carefully with a soft cloth and make sure to whip in a motion from the inside of the record to the outside edge of the record. It’s always a good ideal to have a list of what records are where or at least label the containers or boxes that you store them in so that you don’t have to handle more records then you need to when looking for a certain record. Having a record collection can be worth a lot, if stored right it can be worth a lot of money or it can be worth a lot to you as part of your prize possession, but if not taken care of properly then they can be worth about nothing.
Storing Cars for the Winter
Thursday, December 17th, 2009Storing cars for the winter is a great thing for anyone to do if they want to preserve that car from winter months that could end up being potentially harmful to the car. If you plan on not driving your car though the winter it’s just a good ideal to store that car in a safe place and a place that can provide it with proper shelter throughout winter.
It is not uncommon for someone to not have enough room in their garage or possibly not even have a garage at all for storing cars for the winter. It is also not on common for these people to seek out a storage unit that they can rent from a storage company.
When someone is seeking out a storage unit a person should take their time and make sure their investing their money in a storage unit that is going to keep their car safe from not just the winter but also from the chance of theft or vandalism. Storing cars in the winter does not have to be a complicating process and in most cases it just takes a little bit of common since. Checking out the facilities of a storage unit’s security is probably one of the most important things a person would need to do. And also another way to find out if your car will be safe at a storage unit is by finding out how long the storage unit has been in business. If they have been in business for a long time then it might be safe to say the storage unit has good business practices.
How to store house appliances
Monday, December 7th, 2009Storing appliances like wash machines, dryers, dishwashers, freezer and refrigerators will take some special precautions if you want your items to last a long period of time in storage. Like most everything before storing these types of appliances they should be cleaned extremely well, make sure you clean all air intake areas and vents or tubes and clean all lent traps very well. Make sure you uninstall or disconnect all hoses that your wash machine, dryer, dishwasher, refrigerator or freezer might have and drain all the water out of the houses and empty any extra water that might be still remaining in the appliances. You must thaw out all appliances that have accumulated frost and make sure before you store these items that they are completely dry. When moving appliances make sure that all doors are shut and taped to make sure the doors don’t fly open during transportation. Then when you have your appliances where you want them take the tape off the doors and keep the doors in a ajar position for the time that the appliances are stored. Another tip to remember is during the process of moving and when you do store the refrigerator, never tip the refrigerator on its side, not when you are transporting it and not when you have put it in its storage spot. It’s recommended that you don’t store any items in your appliances, I personally don’t see anything wrong with this ideal and it could help you save a ton of space.
