Need to consider Boat Storage?

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

Storing a boat can appear to be an issue for new owners. According to the size and your budget there are different types of boat storing facilities Perhaps the cheapest of the methods is store it on a trailer. You could keep your boat in the trailer and put it on your backyard or on driveway, but do you really want a boat taking up space in your yard or driveway?

Storing your boat at home may not be an option due to an HOA or as a cautious owner you know that keeping it unsecured may not be a good idea either.

Blue Mound Self Storage has a win, win option for you to consider.

Time to Declutter That House You Have For Sale

Thursday, January 14th, 2010

If you are one of the many homeowner’s in Dallas / Fort Worth that are currently struggling to sell your home you need every advantage you can get. One of the first things that any real estate agent or home stager will tell you is that should remove the clutter from your home. Unfortunately, this is something that most homeowners overlook or simply choose not to do and the result is their home does not show well to prospective buyers when they come to look.

There are many things you can’t change about your house but nothing impresses a potential buyer more than a clean and organized home. Here are a few suggestions to help get you started:

  • Rooms should be sparsely furnished. This will make the room appear larger and lighter.
  • Do not allow furniture to block windows, doorways or traffic patterns.
  • Remove personal items. Too many personal collections or family photographs are distracting for buyers. Buyers must be able to imagine their own family in the home, not yours.
  • Bedrooms should appear restful and serene. Sparsely furnished is best. Children’s rooms usually need to be simplified. Take down posters and box up toys.
  • Relieve your closets if they are stuffed. Pack items that are not needed. You want the buyer to feel like they will have plenty of storage space.

Once you have everything packed up, the next step is to rent a self-storage unit like the ones available at this Fort Worth, TX self storage facility. Renting a storage unit is very inexpensive and is great place to store these items while your home is on the market. Not only will these suggestions help your home show better and probably sell quicker, once you do sell you will have a great head start on packing.

For information about leasing a unit contact Blue Mound – 287 Self Storage today at 817-439-1380 and ask how to get one FREE month of rent.

HOA says move that RV

Wednesday, January 13th, 2010

If you are like many homeowners today, there is a very good chance that your neighborhood isn’t run by the residents, it’s run by the dreaded Homeowner’s Association. I was reminded yesterday just how much of an inconvenience they can be. A customer came into our Fort Worth RV Storage facility because his HOA was demanding that he remove his RV from his property because it violated the HOA rules. If it was not removed within 24 hours, they would begin to levy fines against him.

So, if you’re in a similar situation, please remember that Blue Mound – 287 Self Storage not only is great place to rent a storage unit but we also can accomodate your RV storage needs. We offer both covered and uncovered spots, 24 / 7 access and are conveniently located in North Fort Worth and are easily accessible for those residing in Fort Worth, Haslet, Keller and Saginaw.

Storage Tips for 2010 from Blue Mound 287 Self Storage

Monday, January 11th, 2010
  • Use boxes that are similar in size, they’re easier to stack that way and remember to put the heavy ones on the bottom
  • Leave room between boxes and other items in your storage unit so you can get to items you may need without having to move everything around
  • Try to completely fill boxes. Boxes that are only half-filled collapse when other items are placed on them
  • Most storage facilities, including our Fort Worth self storage location, offer ample security. However, it is still wise to pack your unit so that your most valuable items are at the back. Also, remember to purchase a high quality lock
  • Never keep anything flammable or combustible in your storage units
  • Ask about climate controlled storage to provide additional protection for your delicate items

Call us today at 817-439-1380 for all you Haslet, Fort Worth, Keller and Saginaw self storage needs.

How to store your wine

Monday, January 4th, 2010

Storing wine is a hobby a lot of people like to get into. Wine is good for parties for obvious reasons, that would be the alcohol, certain wines go good with certain foods but the reason for storing wine for most people even know they might not admit it, is wine that has been stored or aged can become a conversional topic. Wine can also show a since of class, taste and maybe even a symbol of wealth. But before showing off to all your friends the high class wine you drink you may want to make sure you store it properly. You can put wine in the refrigerator if you plan to drink it but do not store wine in the refrigerator as wine should be stored in a dark place of a temperature anywhere from 58 to 72 degrees.

Here are some important things to remember when storing wine:

  • Store corked wine bottles on their sides so the cork won’t dry out and let air in
  • Keep the temperature constant
  • Don’t move the wine bottles until it is time to drink the wine
  • Keep the humidity at 70%
  • Make sure the wine in isolation for the wine will breathe in any odors around

After opening

All white wines must be corked very well then put in the refrigerator but should not be stored for more then 3-5 days.

All red wines for the sake of the wine should not be stored in the refrigerator but in a dark place and will also only be good for about 3-5 days
