What storage space options do you have when faced with excess “stuff” and no place to store it? Let’s take a look at the wide-range of options available, from least expensive to most expensive. If you have any questions when you finish reading, you can call us at (817) 823-7105 and we will happily answer your questions. We are Blue Mound 287 Self Storage, and taking care of your belongings is what we do.
Least expensive storage space
The least expensive storage space option is to find a friend or relative who has extra room in their garage or attic for your belongings. We all know someone, right? If this is your only financially-sound option then we say go for it, especially if your belongings have a low value. Why spend money on storage if the loss of your stored items would not “break your personal bank?”
Remember, with this option, there is no hint of security or protections. Vandals are always a possibility. Damage from the climate or by your neighbor’s dog is not out of the realm of possibilities. In other words, you get what you pay for, but if money is a serious issue, this is your go-to choice.
The next option in storage facilities
Now we move up the ladder to self storage facilities. At these storage units you will have security. You will also have climate controlled storage if you should opt for it. Yes, it is more expensive that Cousin Jake’s garage, but the benefits, to you, may outweigh the extra cost. That is your call. We are not here to convince you one way or another. Life always comes down to choices, and oftentimes available cash dictates those choices.
What can you expect to pay for self storage units? Prices will range from approximately $100 per month to four-or-five hundred per month, depending on how large the unit is, whether it is climate controlled, and whether it has other options. For the Average Joe or Jane, plan on $100 as a reasonable figure to work with. For that kind of money you will get a storage unit, somewhere near the size of 5’x10’, and that storage unit will be secure.
Our recommendation?
It all depends on your needs and available cash. If you are storing valuables then we say the extra money for security and climate control is worth it. If not, it is not worth it, and Cousin Jake’s garage will do quite nicely. If money is an issue, remember not to rent a unit which is too large. A 5’x10’ unit has quite a bit of vertical space, so if you stack items you will be able to fit quite a bit inside of a small space.
